  • What Makes A Detox Foot Pads Good For Longevity

Within a few weeks of our second child being born I had reached a stage where I was feeling very tired and lethargic all the time. I’d spent a lot of time with doctors and consultants, and on each occasion I was informed that they couldn’t find any problems.

I was visiting a chiropractor one day for an old war wound, and she suggested I would likely benefit from a detox diet, and take some time to learn how to detox the body and see how toxins accumulate in my body and impact my wellbeing and energy levels. It sounded like a good idea, so figured it was a worthy investment of my time to at least check it out, and why so many alternative and complementary health practitioners recommend doing a detox and recommend starting with the week detox so avidly.

Another thing she suggested to me was to try a foot detox. I now treat myself to a foot massage at least once a week, but as a suitable alternative, those detox pads can do just as good a job - but with the patches you don’t get a relaxing foot massage at the same time

There are some very simple things you can do to help detox your body.

    Drink water or herbal teas

Making sure you take in plenty of fluids is very important while you are following a detox diet because the water will help your body excrete toxins from your system. Drinking plenty of water also has other health benefits like promoting regular bowel movements, reduce bloating, and improves your complexion. You should aim for about 2 to 3 liters a day, and more when you exercise.

As a rule of thumb, increase your water intake by about half a liter for each hour of exercise. Choose still mineral water, or tap water that has been filtered, or boiled and then cooled. Keep your water at room temperature as it’s more refreshing that way. Herbal teas are a great alternative in helping your reach your daily quote - loose leaf is better than tea bags as it hasn’t been processed as much. Peppermint, camomile, dandelion root, horsetail and yarrow are particularly good as their hidden ingredients help the detox process. Green tea and redbush has other health benefits too as it is a rich source of natural antioxidants.

How Can I Possibly Drink So Much?

It’s actually quite easy to drink that much water when you know how. Start your first glass of water with a little root ginger or some fresh lemon juice instead of (or as well as) your morning coffee - this is a great way to activate your metabolism and bowel then try to drink another glass each time you take a break from your work.

Aim to have a glass whenever you eat, have a couple of herbal teas during the day, another during the evening and one more glass when you’re getting ready for bed. Feel free to substitute some water with herbal teas.

Eat Foods As Close To Their Natural State As Possible

You should be looking to buy your food in as fresh a condition as possible and juice or blend them for maximum benefit or just eat them raw, for example as snacks, crudites, salads, and juices. Raw fruits and veg are still full of all their natural enzymes, vitamins and minerals. If the food stays in the fridge or on the shelf for long periods, or if it has been cooked or processed in any way, it kills the natural enzymes.

Buy locally grown produce if you can, preferably at farms and markets in your area- imported produce is usually harvested under ripe (so it will be short of it’s full vitamin and mineral supply) and will have a longer time to lose nutrients on it’s trip to the supermarkets.

    Should You Go Organic

You do not need to switch to a totally organic diet on a detox diet, unless you can afford it, but if you can afford to stretch to buying a few organic products it will be a great help.

If you can’t buy many organic foods, don’t worry. All you need to worry about is eating enough fresh foods, whether they are organic or not, instead of eating too few of them. Nonetheless, there’s a lot of health benefits to eating organic food on a healthy detox diet.

Artificial fertilizers and pesticides are banned from production of organic foods, and therefore they are much healthier being free from toxins and man made chemicals. Although it’s a controversial area, there is evidence that the cumulative impact of these pesticides can cause long term health problems.

There is a lot less processing of organic produce on its journey to your kitchen. That means they contain no hydrogenated fats, artificial additives, preservatives or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The taste and flavor of organic food is usually much better as well.
